3. What are your lips doing?
My sister-in-law has been loving the Shaun T25 video. As a trainer, I was curious and decided to try it out. I love to move my body and learn new things, but for me, the workout was just okay.
A few days later I pulled up an old Tae Bo workout. Within the first few minutes, I was smiling… BIG! I couldn’t help it! It just happened There’s not much, if any, self-talk to get me to do this video. I WANT to! I look forward to it!
So this week’s tip is to ask yourself: what are your lips doing? Are you smiling and enjoying your workout? Or are you dreading it and forcing yourself to do it?
It may seem simple, but when choosing a workout that is right for you, it is ESSENTIAL that you enjoy it!
You may need to try a large variety to find what makes you smile this way. But it’s worth it!
Here are some places to look:
Youtube has a HUGE variety of workouts. This is a great option so you don’t have to invest financially to start testing things out.
Many studios offer free classes for first timers. Look up places that offer yoga, pilates, dance classes, kickboxing. Even if they don’t advertise free classes on their website, call them up and ask!
Follow your kids around the playground, garden, chop wood, walk or bike to work and the store. You can find endless ways to move outdoors. Every movement counts!
Hire a good personal trainer
Personal trainers can focus on your individual needs, helping to speed up the process of finding activities that make you smile.
Keep in mind that just a few changes may make the difference in you loving a workout or hating it. So just because you disliked one Pilates DVD doesn’t mean you won’t love the next one.
What makes you smile can change from day to day, and over time, you may even lose interest. Find a variety of activities you enjoy, and continue to seek out other options!
